Renowned journalist and socio-political commentator David Makali has chided controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna for refusing to accept his nomination as Nairobi Deputy governor in 2018.
Writing on Twitter, Sunday, Mr Makali held the view that the Canadian-based lawyer would now be governor of the capital city had he accepted the nomination which triggered a lot of controversies then.
"Sunday thought: if Miguna had accepted Sonko's toungue-in-cheek nomination to be deputy Governor, he would pro'ly now be the acting Governor of Nairobi. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth?" David Makali's tweet read.
His words come in the wake of the arrest of the Nairobi county governor over corruption charges pressed against him by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
The dramatic arrest has left many wondering what would become of Nairobi.
Constitutional experts envisage a constitutional crisis given that Sonko does not have a deputy who can take over should the governor be forced to step down.
Had Miguna's nomination as the deputy governor seen the light of day, he would have stepped in as governor in the event of the current governor's conviction.
Miguna's nomination was rejected by Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi on grounds that w=he was not a Jubilee party member.
The Nairobi governor is set to be arraigned in court on Monday after being arrested on Friday to answer to corruption charges levelled against him.
