Speaking to the press in Eldoret town on Tuesday Odima said security personnel in Uasin Gishu are overworked, mistreated and paid peanuts compared to work they do.

“It’s sad that despite laws governing the security sector being there employers are going against it, imagine one with a family and children being paid a monthly salary of Sh6,000 yet he is guarding millions. Is this fair,” said the Uasin Gishu COTU Chairman.

He said the recommended monthly salary for security personnel in Eldoret town and its environs is Sh13,000 putting on notice those paying below the amount.

He reiterated that some of the workers don’t have uniforms, shoes, and equipment to protect themselves in case of an attack which is against the law.

“I am giving a stern warning to such employers since it is a must for a person working as security personnel to be given a uniform, boots, sweater, and raincoat. Those who will do contrary will face the full force of the law,” added Odima.

He warned those who have not registered their security companies that their days are numbered and will be arrested and charged since its against the law.
