Already, a section of rival politicians have declared that they will be attending a parallel function at the Nabongo Grounds in Mumias on the same day.

But the Senator on Wednesday declared that he will take it upon himself to ensure that the meeting is thwarted.

"I will not let any other meeting take place in Kakamega County as national leaders converge in Bukhungu (Sitaruhusu mkutano wowote ufanyike Kakamega county kama mkutano wa viongozi wa Kenya wako hapa Bukhungu)," said the leader.

He spoke when he accompanied COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli and ANC Nominated MP Godffrey Osotsi for a view of the venue ahead of the planned meeting.

On his side, Osotsi bashed those opposed to the BBI meeting, pointing out that their narrative that the meeting is an ODM party initiative is unfounded and untruthful.

According to the lawmaker, the meeting will be a national issue and should not be questioned.

"We will not let individual people to thwart attempts by Luhyas to come together. The BBI is not a Luhya issue (Hatutakubali kamwe kwamba jamii ya Waluhya wakati wanataka kuja pamoja watu binafsi wanajitokeza kupinga. BBI sio ya Waluhya)," he remarked.
