Statistically speaking, Jubilee party should take credit for Thursday's by-elections across the country, with residents from three wards participating in the exercise.
In Malindi, Reuben Katana of ODM triumphed over Abdul Omar, formally ODM. While Mr Katana received much support from ODM, Omar enjoyed Aisha Jumwa's backup.
Mr Katana, whose uncle was killed on Tuesday following fatal shooting, scored 4,177 votes to Omar's 2,331. The poll saw Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa locked for allegedly being involved in chaos on Tuesday.
"Congratulations Reuben Mwamure Katana and Mohamed Sheikh Ali for your victories in Ganda Ward in Malindi Constituency and Abakaile Ward in Daadab Constituency respectively. We are proud of you. Now go and serve your people," ODM tweeted.
Stephen Nakeno clinched Loiyangalani ward seat having garnered 1,522 votees. His closest challenger Aaron IItele of KANU came second with 1,048 votes.
The seat was previously held by a FAP candidate who lost in the polls. ODM party had also fielded Tobias Chodow in the polls but the orange party lost.
At Abakaile ward in Dadaab, Sheikh Mohamed Ali of ODM easily retained his seat, ensuring that the orange party did not lose at the Northern Frontier Districts.
While ward elections do not matter as such at national level, political analyst Gideon Mamboleo says both Raila Odinga and William Ruto can celebrate good things to come.
"These polls matter. For me, Raila was the big winner. He ensured his party retained given that people have been saying that the party's popularity is declining. Ruto also proved that his influence in Northern Kenya cannot be undermined."
For him, MP Aisha Jumwa is the biggest loser in the polls and Gideon Moi. KANU lost in Loiyangalani ward to Jubilee. Jumwa openly campaigned for Abdul Omar.
"Jumwa is the loser in the sense that her candidate lost and she is facing probe over shooting. This could injure her career. Moi failed to go personally to the ground and show Kenyans he can do it," he argued.
Gideon Moi is keen to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022. On her part, Jumwa has been campaigning for Kilifi gubernatorial seat.
