The body of an 18-year-old Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student who had been missing was on Monday discovered at her hostel in the college.
The late Lauryn Onkoba is reported to have gone missing shortly after the KMTC broke for the December holiday.
The first-year student had been transferred from the Makueni KMTC to the Nakuru branch this year.
She allegedly disappeared on Wednesday last week and her body discovered on Monday with a rope around her neck.
According to her aunt, they got worried after efforts to get in touch with the late Onkoba bore no fruits as calls to her phone went unanswered.
"It was around 7 in the evening, they tried to call again but she was not picking. So now it became a concern. They started contacting several of us because it was getting dark. So we tried to call, everybody was trying contacting everybody, nothing. So on Thursday, we tried to call even the friends... On Thursday morning, they decided no this is abnormal," Darine Kidiavai, the aunt recounted.
The family members then travelled to Nakuru where they confirmed Onkoba's death.
The bereaved family, which has opposed to allegations that the student might have committed suicide, has faulted the institution for the manner in which they treated the case.
