The outspoken governing Jubilee party legislator joined on Saturday the local community at the Hafsa Binti Islamic Center in receiving the gift from the head of state.

President Uhuru donated the bus about two weeks ago after parents, students and religious leaders from the Islamic centre paid him a visit.

"At Hafsa Binti Siirin Islamic Center (Maahad), Garissa where I joined teachers, students, parents, religious and the community leadership in receiving a new bus donated by H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta when they paid him a visit at @StateHouseKenya, Nairobi, " Duale wrote of the ceremony.

The National Assembly majority leader officially launched the bus to the local community by cutting through the tape with a pair of scissors.

According to Duale, the Islamic centre was opened in 2013 and had only 9 students at the time.

It has since grown to have a population of 400 students.

The MP said that the bus would help in the transportation of students to the centre.

"The bus will help in the transportation of students to the centre. The centre started in 2013 with only 9 students and we are glad to see it grow to more than 400 students currently, " Duale said.

Women, orphans, vulnerable girls, persons with disability and senior citizens are educated and empowered at the Islamic centre.
