President Uhuru Kenyatta has joined other leaders in mourning the demise of Benga Musician John De Mathew.

In his message of condolence, Uhuru, who is completing his second and final term in power, said that the death of the singer is not only a big blow to the family but also the entire nation.  

He said that he saddened after learning about the death of the singer. De Mathew died after his car rammed into a Lorry at the Blue Post Hotel in Thika.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a message of condolence and encouragement to the family, relatives, friends and fans of Kikuyu Benga musician John Ng’ang’a popularly known as John DeMathew who died in a road accident last night. #RIPJohnDeMathew,” State House said.

The commander in chief of the armed forces also said that he was privileged to have a chance to interact with him. He also said that the government will accord the family the support needed during this moment of trial.
