Thirdway Alliance has dismissed claims that Deputy President William Ruto could be financing the Punguza Mizigo Bill.
Through its party Chairman Miruru Waweru, Thirdway has said that Ruto is not a member of the team.
He also admitted that the party lacks the financial muscle to support the Punguza Mizigo initiative but assured its members that the general public has promised to finance the bill. The remarks come after it emerged that the party is slowly running out of funds for the project.
He noted that Kenyans of goodwill have been very supportive of the party in its quest to change the lives of the people through the reduction of the number of members of parliament before 2022.
“He is neither a member of the party and he will never be a member of this party during our lifetime,” he sought to reassure the members.
Its party leader Dr Ekuru Aukot has since asked Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga to concentrate on his job at the African Union rather than fighting the push for a referendum.
Raila has since asked his allies not to concentrate on the bill because he claims that it doesn’t represent the will of the people.
