Eldoret businessman Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop alias Buzeki, who defected from Jubilee to CCM, has openly declared his ambitions to vie for Uasin Gishu county gubernatorial seat in 2022.
Buzeki, just like other prospective aspirants has been strategizing on how to win the coveted seat.
One of the tactics Buzeki has employed includes strengthening of his newly-found party in which he is its secretary-general.
However, his victory would be greatly determined by the presidential candidate CCM would choose to support in that particular election.
CCM party has not yet declared their support for any candidate running for the top seat in 2022 elections.
Uasin Gishu is the home turf of deputy president William Ruto who is the Rift Valley's de facto leader and amongst the 2022 presidential aspirants on a Jubilee party ticket.
Most leaders from the county were elected on Jubilee tickets in 2017, a party led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto. So if CCM chooses to support Dp Ruto's 2022 ambitions, then Buzeki's chances of succeeding Mandago would be high.
On the contrary, if the former Bomet governor's party opts to endorse another presidential candidate other than the DP for the top seat in 2022, Buzeki would face an uphill task in his quest to become the governor of Uasin Gishu county.
He would have to look for more tactics that would lure the electorate to vote in his favour.
