The famous journalist died alongside her husband Farid Jama Suleiman in a terrorist attack on Friday at the port city of Kismayo, Somalia.

Al-Shabaab terrorists have claimed responsibility for the attack which started with a suicide car bomb blast before a group of gunmen stormed Medina hotel and killed at least seven people.

Nalayeh, a mother of two boys, was the founder of Integration TV which she launched in 2014.

The journalist was also the founder of the Somali Refugees Awareness Project, a lobby that advocates for Somali refugees across the world.

Duale described Nalayeh as a brilliant and promising character and termed her death as a big blow to society.

"We've lost a brilliant and promising member of our society in a bomb blast at a hotel in Kismayo, Somalia. I have known her as one person who always tells the world the positive side of Somalia through her online TV," tweeted the Garissa Township Member of Parliament.

Wajir Women Representative Fatuma Gedi also condemned the journalist's killing and eulogised her as a role model to many Somali girls.

"Hodan Nalayeh of Inspirational TV died in today's Kismayo twin attack earlier in the evening. Nalayeh was a strong woman and a role model to thousands of Somali girls. She used her online TV to show the world what Somalia has in store. Condolences to her family and friends," Gedi tweeted.
