Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has hailed the work NACADA is doing to rid the country of drug and alcohol abuse.
In an adulatory tweet on Monday, the tough-talking CS said the war against drugs and alcohol abuse requires the input of all Kenyans and stakeholders in private and public sectors.
He expressed his gratitude for the interventions NACADA had made in that war.
"Ridding Kenya of drugs and alcohol abuse is a fight that should involve everyone. I am therefore grateful that NACADA Kenya has involved a broad spectrum of stakeholders including universities and the State Department for Correctional Services among others to fight this scourge," Matiang'i tweeted.
Kenya continues to grapple with the scourge of drug and alcohol abuse especially in the Coast where the problem is said to be acute.
NACADA has been carrying out public awareness campaigns in a bid to dissuade the young people from the path of substance abuse.
The anti-drug body also offers services to help those seeking to stop engaging in the abuse of drugs.
In a study carried out in 2018, NACADA made a grim discovery that primary school pupils were dabbling in substance abuse.
The most abused drug according to the study among pupils was tobacco standing at 41.9%.
