The trio was nabbed after the police managed to recover a vehicle allegedly stolen from King'ong'o in Nyeri, at Pipeline area along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.

The arrests and recovery was confirmed by Nakuru East Sub County Police Commander Elena Wairimu who said that the vehicle was reportedly stolen on Saturday.

She said that the police were acting on a tip-off before nabbing the Toyota Premio with registration number KBJ 724F.

"Police swung into action following a tip-off," Wairimu was quoted by Daily Nation, identifying the three as Peter Mwangi, Joseph Kamau (both 34) and Stephen Maina.

She added that they are expected to be charged in Nyeri, where the crime was allegedly committed.

"They were taken to Nakuru Central Police Station and will be transferred to Nyeri for further investigations and arraignment," added the police boss.

Ms Wairimu also said that her officers have launched a manhunt for more suspects.

She called upon car owners to fit their vehicles with security systems to make it easy tracking them when stolen.

The car is also being held at the Central Police Station within Nakuru Town.
