Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura now says that chances of Deputy President William Ruto realising his 2022 presidential ambitions are reducing by the day as 2022 approaches.
Speaking on Saturday, he observed that President Uhuru Kenyatta seems crowded by people seeking his endorsement in the race.
Citing former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, he stated that Raila's numerous loses in the past have made it clear to aspirants that one cannot win without the backing of the deep state.
Mwaura, an ex-Raila ally, observed that many people are expected to troop to Uhuru with time, which will further make it harder for him to endorse Ruto as earlier promised.
"People have realized that a president's endorsement can be of help as you cannot make it, no mater your popularity, if the system doesn't want you (Watu wameshajua Rais akikuunga mkono huenda ikakusaidia maana system kama haikutaki hata ukuwe popular huwezi)," he noted.
He made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show hosted by Bramwell Mwololo on Saturday, alongside former Makadara MP Benson Mutura.
He added that in such a scenario, Ruto only has God, at a time when Uhuru has also been appearing non-committal in keeping his 2013 and 2017 promise to back him as his successor.
According to the vocal leader, the truth of the matter is that God will be the final decision maker, whether or not Uhuru will endorse him.
"Am offering open advice to Ruto; Let him pray hard as leadership comes from God (Natoa open advise kwa Ruto; aombe sana maana Mungu ndio hupeana kiti)," he added.
