Dr Matiang'i is currently trying to bring together Abagusii community and is scheduled to tour the region on Friday this week where he is set to commission three police stations.

But West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi says the powerful minister has made very few development trips to Kisii and Nyamira Counties, adding that he cannot beat Ruto.

At Gesusu on Saturday, Kemosi argued that Dr Ruto's presence Gusii will be rewarded in 2022, adding that he's development oriented.

"The truth is we don't have a formidable presidential candidate from our region. Dr Ruto has made inroads and residents love him for his development agenda.

"Matiang'i has made very few development trips and he can't beat the DP. That's the fact. For us to be in government, we should work with the DP," he said.

Matiang'i will open Matutu, Keroka and Kenyenya police stations on Friday where several leaders from the region are set to accompany him.

Nyamira Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi however believes that the Interior Minister has ability to lead Kenya in the near future.

"Our minister is doing wonders. As a community, let's get together and support him. He's going places and as a community, let's back him," she said.
