Phil Etale, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party communications director has breathed a sigh of relief after Imran Okoth said he never offered him a bribe.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Mr Etale expressed his gratitude to the Kibra candidate for setting the record straight on the issue.
"Thank you Imran for setting the record straight live on @RadioCitizenFM. And to the listener who asked the qstn on the alleged WhatsApp conversation I purportedly had with Imran, thank you. I can now breath. I can now walk knowing no one will send me 1 bob to confirm my number, " the ODM communications director tweeted.
A screenshot allegedly of a WhatsApp conversation between Phil Etale and Imran was shared widely on social media platforms early this week after the ODM candidate was issued with a certificate by veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Imran Okoth, who is the brother of the late former Kibra MP Ken Okoth, won the party's nomination exercise after beating 9 other aspirants.
Peter Orero, who came second, abandoned his decision to appeal Imran's victory and vowed to support the Odinga-led party candidate.
ODM started its campaigns in earnest after its candidate was cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
