Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has launched a scathing attack on Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju after he disowned a meeting organised by allies of Deputy President William Ruto to discuss the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
In what they termed as Jubilee Party Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting, DP allies camped at the Lake Naivasha Resort for two days, and came up with resolutions on the BBI, which they said was the position of the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led party.
However, Tuju renounced the Naivasha retreat, saying it was not a Jubilee PG, but a meeting of a section of party members who were exercising their freedom of association.
“For the avoidance of doubt, this is to clarify that such a meeting cannot and will never qualify to be referred to as a Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting," he said in a statement on Monday.
"Any resolutions of any meeting not convened in accordance with the provisions of the party constitution are therefore not official party resolutions," the Sec Gen ruled.
Reacting to the statement, Cherargei told off Tuju, and accused him of working for Raila Odinga-led ODM in a plot to 'kill' the governing party.
He said the remarks demonstrated Tuju, who also serves as Cabinet Secretary without portfolio in Uhuru's government, had nothing to do.
"Tuju is pushing an ODM narrative and he is in bed with enemies and merchants who want to kill Jubilee. They fear that Jubilee has become a formidable political party with a national outlook. I didn't know being a CS without a portfolio is (being) this idle," the vocal Senator tweeted.
