The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) 7th Annual General meeting (AGM) ended yesterday at a Nairobi Hotel with adoption of key electoral code and naming of the board that will spearhead the federation election, slated for December this year.
During the AGM, the delegates adopted a proposed Sh1.45 billion budget for the fiscal year 2020.
FKF said it will finance the budget from FIFA grants and funds from the government.
The delegates also adopted an electoral board to take charge of the December elections.
During the meeting, the team agreed that all candidates running for FKF presidency must have; a running mate, be cleared by HELB, KRA, have a certificate of good conduct, and pay non-refundable fees of Sh400,000.
"We have witnessed problems in the past and with this codes we hope to address such challenges," FKF President Nick Mwendwa said.
In addition, FKF branches will increase from current 20 to 48. Each county will have a branch with exception of Nairobi which will have two branches; Nairobi East and Nairobi West.
Speaking at the event, FKF President Nick Mwendwa highlighted his achievements since he took over from Sam Nyamweya, adding that he will be seeking re-election in December.
He said Kenya qualifying, and participating in AFCON 2019 was the hallmark of his achievement.
Other achievements include; training of over 200 coaches and referees, developing a centre of excellence for U15 team, improving women football among others.
"We have done a lot of positive things and this can only be done under a stable political environment. Our game is under threat due to lack of funding. Let's work together and repackage our football and make it viable," he said.
