In Lome, the African Union High Representative for Infrastructural Development is scheduled to discuss the aviation sector.

Raila was appointed to the position last year in October after a truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta which was praised worldwide.

"Arrived in Lome, Togo and I’m looking forward to the planned discussions on how to improve Africa’s Aviation Sector as part of the wider continental infrastructure agenda," Raila tweeted.

At Rwandese capital Kigali, Raila attended the annual Kusi Ideas Festivals which are sponsored by Nation Media Group.

For Africa to succeed, Raila told delegates, each country must appreciate inter-African trade and bring down the cost of energy.

"We must breakdown the barriers that hinder Intra-African trade and bring down the cost of energy to make the processing of our raw materials viable so that we export processed goods. This will create jobs for our people and ultimately the African Lion will roar," he said.

Raila's trips come amid an intensive debate about the implementation of the Building Bridges Initiative report, which had initially attracted opposition from Deputy President William Ruto and his team.

Despite his busy continental assignments, Raila at times gets more time to run affairs of his party besides participating in national discourses.
