Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i urged politicians to focus on delivering services to the people instead of only engaging in politics.

"I want to ask our politicians to consider serving the people and to stop politicising everything. As a community we need to ensure our people are living a good life by having access to good roads, proper healthcare, better education and tight security," he said.

Speaking at Nyanturago in Kisii over the weekend, Matiang'i vowed to continue working closely with all politicians from the Gusii region to ensure residents enjoy the fruits of devolution.

He further called on residents to shun leaders engaging in divisive politics with the aim of seeking political relevance.

"Residents of Nyamira and Kisii counties should not entertain a section of local politicians who are engaging in politics based on hatred and political parties seeking to remain relevant in the community politics. We as a community need responsible leaders who will represent the community well at the county and national level," said Matiang'i.

The Interior CS was accompanied by Nyanza Youth leader Douglas Ogari among other leaders.
