A recently promoted High Court judge, Evans Makori, has revealed that judges are among the highly-paid public servant officers.
Speaking on Friday at GPO area in Mombasa during the legal awareness exercise, Makori, who has been a Mombasa Chief Magistrate, cautioned residents against corrupting the judiciary system to have a decision made in their favour.
The judge maintained that judges and magistrates are well paid thus there is no need of thinking that they are thirsty for more money.
However, he noted that the judiciary system has been corrupted and that's why there are some cases of bribing.
“Our systems have failed us,” said Makori as quoted by K24 Digital.
Makori stated that he gets enough money and even sometimes wonder what to do with it.
“Let me tell you: if you did not know, we are well paid, very well paid. Sometimes I even ask my friends how I can share my money with other members of the society,'' he said as quoted by K24 Digital
Makori, who has not yet been sworn in as a High Court judge, has called on the residents to report any person they came across asking for bribes or giving bribes in the judiciary to the anti-graft agencies in Kenya.
