Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has been challenged to focus on his Western Kenya bedrock before casting his eye in the national political arena.
This comes only a week after the former Vice President, during the Maragoli Cultural Festivals at the Mbale Grounds in Vihiga, said that he is more interested in national politics for now.
But according to political analyst Herman Manyora, the former Deputy Prime Minister should consider consolidating his Luhya bedrock before venturing into the bigger league.
He suggests that Mudavadi could be a victim of bad advice from his handlers, wondering how he intends to win a national seat yet his own backyard remains disorganized.
"I heard Musalia Mudavadi say that and I think he is using advise from people around him, that he should not be asked to be too much in Western Kenya and he should move out to seek friends," Herman Manyora said on his Take It or Leave It YouTube channel on Wednesday.
The commentator noted that even if Mudavadi were to acquire the friends, he will be the weakest as most of the people he can work with have their backyards solidly behind them.
He pointed out that even if fronted as the compromise presidential candidate in the 2022 polls, Mudavadi will only be a puppet, as the powers will be handed by more serious leaders.
"If they know you have no base, even if they gave you that job as a compromise candidate, know that it will be them doing the job," he noted.
Herman Manyora said that while Mudavadi will occupy the State House, in the event that his candidature and win are realized, he will be merely a puppet president.
