Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta's changes to his Cabinet.

Uhuru on Tuesday reassigned a number of his Cabinet and Principal Secretaries, changes that saw former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri sacked and replaced.

Speaking hours after the announcement, the county boss said the changes are timely, hoping that they will better the lives of Kenyans as is expected of them by Kenyans.

She expressed hope that the new team will address the issues affecting Kenyans without getting involved in politics.

"The changes of Cabinet by H.E the President are very welcome and timely. We hope that this new team and especially those in charge of sectors directly touching on peoples lives will put politics and self interest aside and focus on service delivery to Kenyans," she said.

The president moved Health CS Sicily Kariuki from the Health docket to the Water docket, replacing her with former Nyeri Senator Mutahi Kagwe.

He confirmed Ukur Yattani as the National Treasury CS and moved Simon Chelugui from the Water docket to the Labour.

Others who were moved include former Defence CS Raychelle Omamo who was moved to Foreign Affairs while Monicah Juma who held the Foreign Affairs docket was moved to Defence.
