Renowned socio-political commentator and social media personality Benji Ndolo has weighed in on the story of the Kenyan stowaway that has been revived by Sky News.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Mr Ndolo put Kenyan journalists on the spot, wondering why it had to take a foreign correspondent working for a foreign outlet to dig deeper into the story.
"A Kenyan man tired of slum living hid himself inside the underbelly of a Boeing aircraft, froze to death and dropped like a stone out the skies of London. It took @SkyNews to tell the accurate story, have we no journalists in Kenia??? Such a disaster of a story, " Benji Ndolo wrote on Twitter.
The Sky News story which identified the stowaway as Paul Manyasi who hails from Kakakmega, in Western Kenya, has been trending on social media platforms for hours on end.
John Sparks, the Sky News Africa's correspondent, started investigating the explosive story in London before taking a flight to Kenya.
The story took a new twist on Wednesday as Isaac Manyasi, a man said to be Paul Manyasi's father, denied that he had said that Paul was his son and that he had died after falling off a plane.
Isaac told the Standard Media Group-owned Kenya Television Network (KTN) that he had been told that his son had been arrested in Nairobi.
