A Medical Officer accused of defiling a minor was on Thursday arraigned before the court to answer to the charges.
Michael Otieno Odhiambo was arraigned before Homa Bay Senior Resident Magistrate Tom Mark Olando and charged with defiling a 16-year-old minor on August 8, 2019.
The court heard that the crime was committed on the girl after she sought medical services at the Randung' Health Center in Rangwe sub-county, where the accused works.
The prosecution claimed that the doctor managed to lure the girl to his home in West Gem Ward, where he committed the indecent act on her, before being arrested.
The prosecution added that it's the doctor who personally attended to her at the hospital, before seeking to see her later. He was then arrested by officers from Rangwe Police Station.
The medic denied the charges levelled against him and was released on Sh 200,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.
This comes barely a year after another minor, a 13-year-old girl, was defiled and her private parts mutilated using a razor blade in the same county.
The January incident happened after the assailants abducted the girl on her way to the Toilet in Shauri Yako estate in Homa Bay Town, before doing the heinous act on her.
