Otieno tried to remain calm as Justice Jesse Lesiit defended herself from the decision to recuse herself from the case after she was accused of biasedness following the release of Migori Governor, Okoth Obado.

The woman sobbed uncontrollably out of pain to the point that she drew the attention of the entire court. The officers requested her to be taken out of the courtroom for some time before she came back to continue with the hearing.

The judge denied claims that there was a conflict of interest in the case following the release of the second term county boss.

“No reasons of conflict interest were advanced to warrant the court to recuse itself,”Justice Lesiit said on Friday, as quoted by Daily Nation.

Obado had been arrested alongside his personal assistant Michael Oyamo and county clerk Casper Obiero over the murder of the students.

Otieno was seven months pregnant when she was murdered. DNA results proved that he was the father of the child Sharon was carrying at the time of her death.
