Police are yet to determine the cause of death. The fisherman who has been identified as Samuel Kathuri is reported to have disappeared on June 30 while on a fishing mission.

“Officers from Kibugu police post together with the crime personnel visited and processed the scene and were able to identify the body of the man known to carry out fishing in various rivers within the forest,” said Embu North OCPD Geoffrey Kere as quoted by Citizen Digital.

According to the OCPD, a team of villagers from Kathagariri village in Manyatta Sub-county who had gone to search for the missing man alerted the police at around 8.00am.

Fishermen especially those who conduct their fishing activities in the forest have been advised to be more careful so as to avoid similar tragedies.

"Am calling upon fishermen and those who work in the forest to be vigilant and to ensure that at least close friends or family members are aware of your whereabouts before you proceed to your routines. This way, it becomes easy to be traced in case of anything,” said Kere.

The body was taken to Embu Level Five Hospital.
