Onychomycosis is a fungal infection that affects the toenails. Toenail fungus can be the result of abnormal pH of the skin, sweat build-up in shoes and poor foot hygiene. The symptoms of this infection can be noticed by yellow or brown discoloration of the nails, swelling, and pain on the toes. However, you can prevent it without going to the hospital through the following ways;
Garlic
Crush some garlic and apply it on the affected area. Leave it for twenty minutes then rinse with warm water. Do it for one week continuously for the better.
Baking soda and sodium borax
The alkalinity in baking soda prevents the fungus from spreading and growing. Sodium borax has the acidic property that kills the fungi from the nails. Mix the two and add a little water to it to make a paste. Apply the paste on the affected area and leave it for thirty minutes and do this twice a day for two weeks.
Lemon juice
Get a lemon fruit and extract some juice from it. Apply the juice to the affected area and let it stay for half an hour then rinse with warm water.
Coconut oil
Coconut oil is known to be the best for skin health. It has the ability to penetrate through the cell wall and the fungi. Apply a thin layer of coconut oil to the affected area and leave it for twenty minutes then wipe. Do it daily for one week continuous for the best results.
Vinegar
Take one part of vinegar and two parts of warm water and mix. Then dip the affected area to the mixture for twenty minutes daily
Lavender oil
Dip few drops of lavender oil on the affected area and let it stay for twenty minutes then wipe it away.
