Police in Thika have apprehended six people in connection to the brutal murder of a businessman in Ngoingwa Estate.

The six were arrested on Monday morning following the murder of the man who had been abducted for more than 24 hours. The businessman was allegedly kidnapped from his house in the estate.

The businessman was abducted at the gate to his house on Thursday last week. He was found murdered in Rwera area in Gatundu South. Police had, allegedly, launched a manhunt over the same incident.

The six were arrested in a raid on a house in Kiboko Estate in Thika Town after the detectives who have been handling the case were tipped off by a suspect who was arrested on Saturday in Gatundu.

According to Thika West OCPD Erastus Muthamia, the police also recovered four machetes, several syringes believed to be used by the assailants to inject the victim with sleeping drugs and a fake pistol.

Muthamia said that the weapons appear to have been used for long, a clear indication that the culprits have been in the activities for some time.

The officer said that the six are suspected to be part of the gang of criminals that has been harassing Thika residents and those from Makongeni area. Muthamia added that they will be interrogated for more information.

The suspects are set to appear in court to face charges of murder and robbery with violence, according to Muthamia, immediately the police have finished interrogating them.
