You need to be careful with whatever you do or whatever you say in front of your baby because they will absorb your actions or words and even try to mimic your behavior.

You may think your baby is too small to understand your words or behavior but you are wrong. There are a number of things you can do that can impact your baby's mental and physical health.

Below are some of the things you shouldn't do in front of your baby;

1. Smoking

Some parents will have the guts to smoke despite having infants around. Your baby's respiratory system and immunity, in general, is still underdeveloped and they can be hugely affected by passive smoking compared to adults so never smoke before your baby.

2. Drinking alcohol

Especially breastfeeding moms shouldn't drink alcohol. Alcohol directly gets into your bloodstream and will surely get into the breast milk. An infant's liver is underdeveloped and cannot process alcohol. Drinking alcohol may also affect your breastfeeding patterns hence affecting your baby's health.

3. Never curse

Some parents are not aware that babies start understanding their languages even in the womb. Think before you speak words of curse or swear because your baby will surely keep these words in their little brains only to use them when they start speaking.

4. Fighting

Some parents are fond of fighting in front of their babies thinking they are too small to understand things around them. Babies can understand the negativity in the screams you make around them. So never fight, scream or get into physical altercations in front of your infant.

5. Ignoring your baby

Your baby isn't able to talk but they have their own means of communication; the kicks and the cries. They are trying to tell you something using these so never do a mistake of ignoring them. The more you communicate with them, the better it gets.

6. Insulting your partner

You may be in bad terms with your husband but never insult, disrespect or belittle them in front of your baby. If you need to talk or engage in fights with your partner then you better find a room far from the earshot your baby. Be happy in front of your baby.
