Members of Diplomatic Corps on Thursday received incoming Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Raychelle Omamo. As a routine, envoys usually host dinner after changes at the Foreign Affairs Department to usher in the new leadership.
Omamo, who had served at Department of Defense for the last seven years, literally swapped positions with Ambassador Monica Juma.
"Foreign Affairs C.S Amb. Raychelle Omamo meeting with members of Diplomatic Corps during her welcome reception last evening," Foreign Affairs department tweeted.
But her deployment to the Foreign Affairs department is not unique given that at one time, she served as ambassador to France. Ms Omamo is a daughter to former powerful minister and a close ally to founding father Jomo Kenyatta, Mr Odongo Omamo.
Outgoing CS Ms Juma had said that the department was on the right track as she passes the button to Ms Omamo.
"The state of our diplomacy is strong because of these patriotic, professional Kenyan diplomats at the Headquarters that support our missions across the world," she said.
Ms Omamo is expected to continue lobbying for Kenya's position at United Nations Security Council due June this year besides engaging in Kenya-Somalia border row case at the International Court of Justice.
