It is a fact that any serving politician's ambition is to stay in power for as long as he or she is alive and kicking.
However, for a section of incumbent governors currently serving their final terms, 2022 is the year to reckon with. These politicians include:
1. Mombasa's Ali Hassan Joho
Governor Joho is the incumbent county boss of Mombasa, doing his second and final term. Constitutionally, he will not be eligible to contest for an additional term at the same capacity.
His next politician stride remains at stake, a thing that could render him jobless if he errs in deciding his next move.
2. Dr Alfred Mutua
He is the Machakos boss serving his final term in office. it is a fact that he is staring at political oblivion if effects an unfavourable move.
As it is, he is on record claiming to vie for the country's apex seat come 2022. Failure to ascend to the presidency as he expects, Mutua will definitely get himself out of the political limelight.
3. Jackson Mandago
The Uasin Gishu county boss is definitely one of the powerful individuals in the North Rift region. Being a second time county boss, his odds of him still dominating in active politics remain quite high.
He is yet to make public his next politocal move. Just like Hassan Joho, the path he opts to follow in 2022 and beyond will widely determine his political career.
