Taking Twitter Ambassador Monica Juma assured the new members of Kenya's support in the course of their tenure.

She hailed the composition of the UNSC as representational.

The newly elected members are Saint Vincent, Vietnam, Estonia, Niger, and Tunisia.

"Hearty congratulations to the 5 newly elected Non-Permanent members of the UN Security Council. 1.Saint Vincent & The Grenadines @SVG_UN & @ComradeRalph 2. Vietnam @FMPhamBinhMinh 3. Estonia @UrmasReinsalu4. Niger @kallaankourao 5. Tunisia @TunisieDiplo, " Ambassador Monica Juma's tweet read.

"Your election makes the composition of the UNSC truly representational. You can count on the full support of KENYA during your tenure. It is our earnest hope that we shall have the opportunity to serve with you all on the council in 2021, " she added.

The members, who were elected by the general assembly, will serve for a term of 2 years.

Kenya has invested a lot of resources in diplomacy to help the country get a seat at the UNSC after winning the support of the African Union last year.

The seat, should Kenya win it, will raise the country's profile on the global scene.
