Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has turned against his former ally and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Gilgil MP Martha Wangare has said.
The MP says the fact that the former Prime Minister is now working with Kalonzo's rivals is enough evidence that he is out to destroy his (Kalonzo) political influence in Ukambani.
She says that Raila openly declared war on Kalonzo when he was accompanied by the three Ukambani governors who have been fighting Kalonzo to Kibra on Sunday.
"When you see Raila going to Kibra with the people fighting Kalonzo, its Kalonzo he is fighting (Ukiona Raila ameenda Kibra na wale watu wanapiga Kalonzo kule Ukambani, ujue ni Kalonzo anapigwa)," she said.
The Jubilee Party lawmaker made the remarks on Radio Citizen's Pata Shika, also attended by Lugari MP Ayub Savula and former Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi on Wednesday night.
She was referring to Sunday campaigns for Imran Okoth, which were attended by governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni).
According to the lawmaker, Kalonzo has for long been in an abusive relationship with Raila, and should now consider seeking another alliance.
She cited when ODM fronted Irshad Sumra to battle Wiper's Julius Mawathe in the Embakasi South MP race earlier in the month, despite the seat having been Wiper's.
According to the lawmaker, had things been in order, it was expected that ODM leaves the seat for Wiper, since the two parties are also members of the National Super Alliance (NASA).
"Kalonzo has been in an abusive relationship but has stuck there. Even in Embakasi Raila fronted Sumra to unseat Mawathe yet the seat was Wiper's (Kalonzo amekuwa kwa abusive relationship lakini amekaa tu hapo. Hata pale Embakasi Raila alimleta Sumra kumtoa Mawathe japo ile kiti ilikuwa ya Wiper)," he added.
However, it has emerged that Kalonzo is in alliance talks with Deputy President William Ruto ahead of the 2022 polls.
