Machakos County Executive for health Dr Ancent Kituku has admitted that some of the health workers in the county are staining the efforts by the county government to provide quality healthcare.
Addressing journalists at Kangundo level four hospital, Kituku said the county government of Machakos has made strides in improving healthcare services.
However, a few workers from the sector have watered down the efforts made by others.
"We have gotten complaints that services at night are not desirable. We are putting measures in place to ensure that everything falls into place," he said.
"99 % of our healthcare workers are good, committed and professional but there's is 1% which is naughty and we will not allow them to mess the effort made by the others," he added.
He encouraged residents in Machakos to report cases of mistreatment in hospitals for action to be taken.
He gave an example of how a drunk pharmacist of Kangundo level four hospital was fired for negligence.
"One of our staff is alleged to have come to work very drunk and could not open the pharmacy. We engaged the management, the superintendent, nursing manager, and hospital manager and held a meeting whereby a disciplinary action has been taken against that officer," he said.
"We have put measures into place to ensure in the event a certain officer is not able to attend to their duties for whichever reason, the hospital management should ensure there is an immediate replacement so that the services are not interfered with," he added.
