Kisumu County minister for finance Nerry Achar has said he is still the County Executive Committee member for Finance and Economic Planning.
In an interview with a Kisumu vernacular radio station on Monday morning, Achar puts it clear that he still heads the finance docket despite his impeachment attempt by the Kisumu county assembly.
He, however, noted that the matter is in the court and could not speak much about it, adding that the governor is the appointing authority who employs and sacks.
"I can’t speak about that now, the governor is the appointing authority and he’s the one who employs and dismisses,” said Nerry Achar.
Achar also noted that he has been in the finance docket before and so he has never quit.
“As things stand I am still the minister for finance and Economic planning and nothing has changed,” he added.
Recently, 37 Kisumu MCAs voted in a bid to oust Achar with only three votings against his censure.
The 37 ward representatives accused him of incompetence and gross violation of the constitution.
Achar’s case still lies in court as Kisumu netizens wait for the final verdict.
