Speaking when he joined his boss Governor James Ongwae in a meeting with Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) officials, Maangi appealed to residents not to boycott the important exercise.

"Kisii residents should not miss the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census. I urge all the residents of Kisii County to ensure that they are all counted as this will help the government provide better services," said Maangi.

He warned local youths against interfering with the exercise after they missed out in the recruitment of officials to conduct the census exercise.

"Local politicians should not incite youths to boycott the exercise after they missed out in the recruitment exercise. Let those who were recruited conduct the exercise in peace," he stated.

A National Population and Housing Census is carried out by KNBS every ten years to primarily determine the population of Kenyans, which in turn guides planners on resource allocation and provides a key plank for the national and county governments as they prepare policies and development programmes that propel the nation for a decade.
