Former Nakuru West parliamentary aspirant, Hezron Okiki, was on Wednesday arraigned before a Nakuru Court to answer to charges of causing a disturbance at a local church and the police station.
Okiki, however, told the court that he was the one who was assaulted during the June 15, 2019 drama at the Angaza Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church.
Okiki wondered why he was being charged yet he is the one who recorded a statement at the police station claiming he was assaulted by the public.
Okiki presented to the court a letter dated June 26, 2019, addressed to Officer Commanding Kaptembwo Police Station wanting the office to address the assault claim.
In the letter, the ODM politician said he had attended a church service at the SDA church where he was invited for a fundraiser together with his opponent, Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama.
During the church service, Okiki claims he was accosted by a group of people he believes were sent by Arama to assault him.
Okiki told the court that he later that day went to Kaptembwo Police Station to record a statement over that matter.
While at the police station, Okiki was told to wait outside the station but the same people raided the station and assaulted him again.
After the letter as presented in court, Principal Magistrate Faith Munyi postponed the case hearing to a later date.
“We have seen the letter. The case will be mentioned on July 11," ruled magistrate Munyi.
