Speaking on Wednesday during the launch of the first phase of the Sh500 million multi-storied Githurai Market,  State Department for Housing and Urban Development PS Charles Hinga has confirmed the unveiling of the trains.

The trains are expected to make stopovers at different places including Mwiki, Githurai and Ruiru every 30 minutes. The government has set aside Sh360 million to connect Thika and Githurai for efficient transport between the two regions.

“We injected Sh360 million to construct the Githurai link between Thika road and the Githurai railway substation. With this mass transit system in place, we will be creating more business opportunities where our people will be able to visit market centres and head home with ease,” he said.

Hinga also said that the government is committed to ensuring the smooth flow of traffic on the roads. He also asked the road users to be careful whenever they are using their vehicles.

Upon implementation of the project, road users will spend less time on the roads because of the lack of traffic jam.

Kenyans have been forced to wait for hours in the past especially during peak hours because of the high level of traffic on the roads.
