Siaya Senator James Orengo now says that Deputy President William Ruto should not be worried about President Uhuru Kenyatta's performance.

The lawmaker says that the same will not affect him in any way as far as his future ambitions are concerned.

The DP has since declared his interest in the top seat in the fast-approaching and much-awaited  2022 general elections.

Speaking on Point Blank show on Wednesday night, he said that Ruto is on the safe side whether Uhuru delivers or not, as the nation will only he looking at the president and not him.

“In writing history, they will talk about Uhuru Kenyatta’s tenure. Ruto will not feature,” he is quoted by the Standard.

At the same time, he predicted tough times ahead for the president with regards to his legacy, noting that he will have it very hard delivering fully as per his desires and dreams.

He observed that the same goes back to the very same leadership and his officials, Ruto included, who are denying him the space he needs to operate.

The opposition lawmaker claimed that while Uhuru is busy trying to deliver, the DP is campaigning and pulling him back.

Orengo added that the government is fractured by unending internal rows, which has made it 'dysfunctional' and unable to operate.

“The Government has become dysfunctional. It is at cross-purposes,” he added, advising the head of state to take full charge of his vessel and steer it in his preferred manner.
