The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) secretary general Francis Atwoli has waded into the debate ignited by the indictment of Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry rotich.
Speaking on Saturday during a funeral ceremony for Kenya Engineering Workers Union official Fredrick Odindo, the outspoken trade unionist made a passionate appeal on the embattled cabinet secretary, calling on the government to use him as a state witness.
He contended that Rotich only appended signatures to documents but did not benefit from the embezzlement of the Kimwarer and Aror dams' scandal.
"I want to ask the government also to ask those who were arrested because they have not even a single penny, to be state witnesses. The likes of Rotich should not die for nothing. Na mimi nauliza government pia iulize hawa jamaa walishikwa hawakula ndururu, wawe state witnesses. Wakina Rotich wasikufe bure)," the COTU boss pleaded.
Atwoli advised the Finance CS to cooperate with the investigative bodies by saying all he knows about the scandal thatled to his arrest.
His words come amid the indictment of Rotich over charges of abuse of office and engaging in projects without prior planning, charges pressed by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Hajji.
