Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday attended the burial ceremony of Gibson Kinyanjui commonly known as ‘Mwalimu' in Kandara, Murang'a County.
The late Mwalimu was brother to Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome.
In a tweet, Ruto eulogised Mwalimu as a great person who used his time to mold people around him.
"Gibson Kinyanjui ‘Mwalimu’ was a distinguished personality, loving, committed, diligent with a strong work ethic. As a career teacher, he inspired and moulded the mental orientation of his learners.
''Mwalimu was patient, gentle and composed; he exhibited no resentment and served the community through his philanthropic assignments. We will miss his warmth and humour,'' said DP Ruto.
Addressing mourners during the burial, the DP urged political leaders to desists from politicking and focus on development.
A section of leaders accompanying Ruto said they will reject the BBI if it doesn't concentrate on issues affecting the country.
"We shall only support this report if it shall be addressing issues ailing our country but if there is a hidden political motive in it we will oppose it," Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen said as quoted by People Daily.
Ruto was accompanied by Murkomen, Didmus Baraza (Kimilili MP), Jane Kihara (Naivasha MP), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu MP) and Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira MP).
