Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago is among the county bosses who are serving their last terms in office.
With the magnitude of the 2022 politics accelerating a notch high in his county, the governor is yet to make any bold statement as far as political camps in the country are concerned.
Uasin Gishu being DP Ruto’s stronghold, majority of the leaders in the region have openly declared their support for DP Ruto’s presidential ambitions.
That is something that Mandago is yet to openly comply with. The governor wants to remain relevant and authoritative in Uasin Gishu \national politics.
Contextualizing that he has ardent supporters from both political camps, he is lying low not to amaze either camp.
He wants to get better accommodation in the political arena after gubernatorial duties.
He must be weighing options because he has political allies in both DP Ruto’s camp and Raila’s camp.
It should be remembered that Raila and his team advocated for Mandago’s re-election in the 2017 general elections.
With Raila being the main political nemesis of DP Ruto’s camp as things stand, the cold war between the two is taking a new turn day in day out.
Chances of Mandago seeking an elective position in 2022 are minimal because he is serving his last term as per the constitution.
Hence he doesn't want to take sides early in the Ruto-Raila feud.
