Residents of Sironga area in Nyamira South Sub-County woke up to a shocking incident on Tuesday morning when the body of a 26-year-old man was found hanging inside his house.
The man identified as Elkana Oyugi is suspected to have committed suicide after a misunderstanding with his wife two days ago that led to the wife fleeing their home.
Confirming the incident, area assistant Chief said the man did not lock his house, therefore, the neighbours saw his body hanging as they were leaving for work.
“We have already called the police and the police have found a note written by Elkana where he stated clearly that he decided to take his own life after being heartbroken by his wife who we currently don’t know his whereabouts,” said Edga Orang’o, the area assistant chief.
Orang’o further said that they are working with the police closely to know the truth behind the suicidal note the man left behind.
The chief further called upon those in marriages to ensure that they solve all conflicts amicably instead of taking their lives.
“The police have already taken the body to Nyamira morgue and we are currently working closely with the family to ensure that we get hold of the wife as she will give us more information needed for further investigation,” said Orang’o.
