Police in Mombasa County on Wednesday gunned down a suspected member of the Wakali Kwanza criminal group.
Kisauni police boss Julius Kiragu confirmed the incident stating that the suspect, commonly known as "Boyka", was a member of the fierce Wakali Kwanza group that has been terrorizing residents.
Boyka was cornered at Mtopanga area on Wednesday night at around 8pm. His accomplices, however, managed to escape.
The Kisauni police boss noted that they are still looking for the other gang members who escaped.
According to Mr Kiragu, the gang members are armed and there are fears that they might strike again.
A source quoted by Citizen Digital revealed that Boyka and other members of the Wakali Kwanza gang were positively identified by victims of the Monday night attack.
The Monday attack which was carried out in Bulo, Bamburi Mwisho, Bombululu and Kisimani areas left more than 10 residents nursing injuries.
This is not the first time the machete-yielding gang has made headlines for terrorising Mombasa residents.
Other gangs which have been reigning terror on residents in the Coastal city include Wakali Wao, Wajukuu wa Bibi, Watalia, Wakali Pilipili, Lipa Kwanza among others.
