Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amolo has challenged Deputy President William Ruto to resign if he doesn’t support the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Leader Raila Amolo Odinga.
In an interview with NTV on Tuesday, Amolo said that Ruto has no choice but to support the handshake between the two leaders.
He alluded that Raila and Uhuru are leaders of the parties with the largest support base.
"We cannot have a problem with that process because his leader of choice is the Deputy President. The Deputy President deputizes so when the President so when the president sits with whoever he chooses and they agree on the course you are expected to deputize and if you have a problem with that resign but he has not resigned.
"Secondly, the people we are talking about are the leaders of the two biggest political formations and anyone who loves this country will agree with me that if it were not for that handshake that country will be different,” he said in part, in a video shared by Daily Nation.
On Sunday, Ruto steered clear off the handshake after Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho asked him to do so.
Ruto instead concentrated on highlighting the accomplishments of the Jubilee regime.
