Speaking during an interview on Citizen on Tuesday, Shollei said she learned from Laboso that it is possible to articulate pressing issues without necessarily raising your voice.

The Woman Rep said Laboso was a great woman who stood up against the oppressors, adding that she will dearly miss the deceased who was her close friend.

"I remember Joyce Laboso as one of our finest leaders; I think one of the very best women…she was everything you could admire in a woman. One of the lessons I learnt from her is you could be yourself, soft spoken and still bring down a giant," Shollei said.

On her part, Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga said Laboso was a trailblazer of women leadership.

She said there are many things she learned from the deceased, and raised concern over the increased cases of cancer in the country.

“I think Joyce Laboso was always at the front-line defending women leadership despite what the politics were; we respect her because she cracked the glass ceiling,” she said.
