Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has alleged that the city was hard-hit by chaos witnessed after the 2017 general elections.
In a speech read during the launch of the BBI report at Kasarani and which was also shared on Facebook on Wednesday, Sonko claimed that Nairobi was the most affected county in the region.
The vocal governor revealed that the tensions had negative implications on the businesses in the city and as a result, its economy was hard hit.
Sonko further noted that the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga restored the situation of things in Nairobi back to normal.
He said that his county government had a conducive environment to deliver services to citizens after the president and the former prime minister joined hands in building the nation in March 2018.
"The handshake restored peace, and our people have been able to go about their businesses, and my administration has been able to focus on nothing else but serving the great people of Nairobi," read part of his speech.
Furthermore, the city boss observed that the handshake calmed down political temperatures and chaos that had become a ticking time bomb in the country.
He pledged his support for the BBI and the peace and unity ideologies the two leaders were advancing.
