US-based Kenyan law scholar Prof Makau Mutua has once again poured cold water on Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
Mutua predicted that Ruto, despite putting a lot of efforts to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, will withdraw his bid or be forced to quit the race to State House.
In a tweet on Friday, the renowned lawyer said whether the DP likes it or not, he will not rise to the presidency or to the post of Prime Minister, which could be created through the looming referendum.
"My crystal ball tells me that either William Ruto will tame his ambitions before 2022 or they be tamed for him. No one can willy nilly make himself President or Prime Minister. You can take that to the bank," he tweeted.
Mutua has repeatedly opined that Ruto will not take over power due to 'dangerous aggressiveness' and 'rebellion' against Uhuru following his March 9, 2018 handshake with Raila Odinga.
"It’s clear William, Ruto has exposed Uhuru Kenyatta to public ridicule by telling him that he doesn’t give a damn about the handshake. He’s declared total war on both Kenyatta and Raila Odinga. Gloves are now off. Battle lines are drawn. Kenyatta must speak to dispute the lie," he said in a past tweet.
"I do not think he (Ruto) will become president," he said recently during JKL Show on Citizen TV.
