A closely guarded secret, details have now emerged with a possible local line-up drawn ahead of 2022 polls.

Before meeting Nyamira leaders, Dr Ruto held a meeting with Kisii leaders who were led by Deputy Governor Joash Maangi.

According to former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati, Dr Ruto is keen to help Nyamira region develop besides planning for 2022.

"Of course we met for around six hours before our team proceeded to Nairobi club. It was a fruitful meeting and I thank the DP for that," he told reporters, Monday.

Nyambati, who narrowly lost Nyamira gubernatorial seat in 2017, wondered why people get furious whenever the DP meets leaders.

"We discussed the development and how to go about 2022. Some of the details I will not preempt. But it's sad that some people get offended when the DP hosts people," he noted.

Elected leaders present were Joash Nyamoko, Vincent Kemosi and Shadrack Mose along with a team of former leaders.

The DP is said to have promised more trips to the region, which could play a key role in 2022 polls. The region has around 1.5 million voters.

Previously, Dr Ruto hosted the delegation at his Sugoi home before Christmas. He has visited Kisii and Nyamira for over 20 times in the past 2 years.
