Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has weighed in on the alleged assassination plot against the Deputy President Dr William Ruto.
Speaking on Friday in Nandi, the governor appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta to see to it that meticulous investigations into the claims are undertaken.
The county boss argued that the president ought to have asked the Cabinet Secretaries alleged to be at the centre of the plot to step aside.
"So I want to ask his Excellency the President to allow serious and thorough investigations into these serious allegations about [the] assassination of his own principal assistant. He should by now have asked the ministers involved to step aside or suspend them and if we do not see serious action and commitment to thoroughly investigate this matter from the highest level in this office, it means we are taking this matter casually, " the Nandi County boss said.
Governor Sang warned that if the alleged assassination plot is successfully carried out, then the responsibility would lie with the Uhuru-led administration.
His strong words come amid claims that some Cabinet Secretaries from Mt Kenya region met at the La Mada Hotel to plot the assassination of DP Ruto.
